fairtrade launches plastprintpack & agrofood Kenya 2020
Annual business platform for Kenyan and Swahili speaking East & Central African professionals
Based on their vast experience in organizing professional trade shows in North and sub-Saharan Africa, the German trade show specialists fairtrade now launches plastprintpack & agrofood Kenya. Kenya’s Premier International Trade Show on Plastics, Printing and Packaging, Agriculture, Food & Beverage Processing, Ingredients is scheduled for 24 to 26 November 2020 at the brand-new Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
The event targets to become an annual platform for valuable business contacts between leading manufacturers from the world over and professionals from the Kenyan and Swahili speaking East & Central African Plastprintpack & Agrofood industry.
Swahili is the lingua Franca of the East African Community and connects its six member states in the African Great Lakes region of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Plus the DR Congo. A total of 250 million people lives in this region. And according to the German Engineering Federation VDMA, they invested 298 million euros in food & beverage process technology and 135 million euros in agricultural technology, in 2018 alone.
Since Kenya only produces 1% of its required plastic raw materials itself and imports 99% (mainly from the Middle East, Europe and Asia), Kenya has great potential for exporters of plastics in primary forms as it is also East & Central Africa’s largest importer. Imports of plastics raw materials, for instance, grew by 10.4% annually between 2007 and 2017, from 166 kt to 448 kt, +170%. (EUROMAP)
According to VDMA, Kenya’s imports of plastics technology have grown at an annual rate of 5.6% between 2014 and 2018. With imports of 38 million euros in 2018, Kenya is the largest importer of plastics technology in East & Central Africa
The country’s imports of packaging technology have grown by 15.4% between 2012 and 2018. With imports of 45 million euros in 2018, Kenya is the largest importer of packaging technology in East & Central Africa
When it comes to Kenya’s imports of printing and paper technology, they have grown at an annual rate of 21.3% between 2013 and 2018. With imports of 50 million euros in 2018, Kenya is also the largest importer of printing and paper technology in East & Central Africa.
